Pompeii, a city of around 11,500 people, was destroyed and buried under around 6m of ash From the eruption of mount Versuvius in 79AD. Well preserved under the ash, it was undisturbed for hundreds of years. These are some wild poppies growing through the ruins of the city, quite poignant really as poppies are used for remembrance...
