Castle corridor

This is one of the many amazing interior scenes that will greet you when you visit Lumley castle, in county Durham, North East England. What a beautiful old castle this is. Built by Ralph, Lord Lumley around 650 years ago in 1390, he sadly lost his head only 10 years after it was completed during the Holland rebellion, but it was given back to the Lumley family in 1405. They were created the Earls of Scarbrough in 1690 and the family still owns the castle, now a luxury hotel. Steeped in history, it’s well worth a visit. The arrow on the floor is for the Covid-19 one way system.
